About me
Opening
My name is Michael "Mike" Jerry and I am so excited more importantly, I am so LUCKY to be your child’s teacher for this school year. I would like to welcome you all back to another new school year (SY21-22)! I cannot wait to share the rest of the year with your lovely children and to see what this fun-filled year has in store for us.
Teacher Bio
I was born and raised on Long Island New York, I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in May of 2012. My family still lives in New York and I try to visit as much as I can but I don't miss the winters!
I love to play guitar when I have the time and read mystery/crime novels. My all-time favorite authors include Stephen King and Nelson DeMille. I also enjoy hiking, swimming, camping, and seeing what this beautiful island has to offer.
Education
I started my college experience at Molloy College in New York then transferred to the University of Hawaii at Hilo. UH Hilo is where I graduated with a bachelors degree in music and a certificate in educational studies in 2015. In May of 2019, I received my masters in education from UH Hilo.
Certification
Provisional license for Elementary Education K-6
Teaching Experience
I was a substitute teacher for Hawaii Island public schools for 3 years. This is my 4th year of teaching.
