Ms. De Luz is a licensed, highly qualified science teacher that has majored in Natural Science and has a minor Earth and Space Science. She has worked as a scientist for the United States Department of Agriculture ARS Research Station helping to export commodities out of the Pacific Hawaiian basin rim for seven years- her research is published. She has worked with NASA to create science curriculum used today by teachers around the world. She left her job at Kamehameha School's in 2003 to teach at her alma-matter, Honoka'a High and Intermediate where she taught grades 7-12 in various subjects over the years such as Food Service, Middle School Basic Practical Arts, Art, SMC/CSAP, Physics, Astronomy, Oceanography, Human Anatomy and Physiology, ect. She was later hired to be the first 8th grade science teacher at Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School when they expand the school to accommodate 8th grade. Ms. De Luz is a qualified teacher mentor that is GLAD and AVID trained. She is currently taking classes in STEM.
