About Mrs. Appleton

Aloha Pa‘auilo Tigers!  I am excited to be teaching in your intermediate school!  My subject concentrations are English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Reading.  My passion is to increase student access to educational opportunities and literacy.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Early Child Development, a Masters of Arts in Special Education, and am currently on track to receive my Literacy Specialist certification from UH Manoa.

During my career in education, I have been a Play and Learn Group Coordinator for ages 0-5, DOE preschool Educational Assistant, DOE Parent and Community Networking Coordinator, Montessori School assistant teacher, PreK-Grade 1 assistant teacher, and DOE Grade 6-8 Special Education Teacher.  I strive to integrate student’s interests into their academic tasks and embed hands-on activities to help them master concepts and skills.

I live on the wetside of Waimea with my husband, dogs, cats, sheep, and horses.  I have two adult children and two grandchildren who live in California.

I look forward to our, albeit strange, 2020-2021 school year with you and your ohana!
